Adult Take & Make: Paper Quilting for Black History Month

Monday, February 6—Friday, February 10All DayMain Floor Circulation AreaHopkinton Public Library13 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA, 01748

Adults are invited to pick up a kit to make quilted paper squares.

Quilting was and continues to be a cornerstone of Black American culture. Quilts could be used for warmth, but also recorded family or cultural histories, encoded instructions on how to read the stars or which paths to take to escape plantations, and marked safe locations on the Underground Railroad. Today, Black quilt artists use their quilts to comment on Black identity, preserve Black and African history and traditions, and, as always, keep their families warm.

Kits are first-come first-served. We are not taking reservations or holds.
