An American Poet in Prison: Pushcart prize winning poet and Tufts professor Dr. Ravi Shankar discusses his experience with the American criminal justice system and his memoir "Correctional" called "the work of an absolutely brilliant writer" by the Sydney Review of Books and named a finalist for the 2022 Connecticut Book Awards.

Dr. Ravi Shankar is a Pushcart prize-winning poet, translator and professor who has published 15 books, including W.W. Norton's Language for a New Century: Contemporary Poetry from the Middle East, Asia & Beyond. He has appeared in such venues as The New York Times, NPR, BBC and the PBS Newshour and won awards to the Corporation of Yaddo, Virginia Center for Creative Arts and the MacDowell Colony. He currently teaches creative writing at Tufts University and his memoir “Correctional” called "the work of an absolutely brilliant writer" was published by University of Wisconsin Press in 2022.
