250th: Songs of the American Revolution
Sunday, April 122:00—3:30 PMBetty Strong Room (Large Event Room)Hopkinton Public Library13 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA, 01748

Come listen to songs enjoyed by both sides during the American Revolution, when the colonies echoed with marching tunes, ballads, and hymns created to promote either rebellion or loyalty to the crown. Diane wears period clothing and accompanies her singing on authentic instruments.
Folk songs let us see the inner lives of all the people involved, not just the rich and famous. Women, especially, left few records behind. Diane explores their stories and those of the people both free and enslaved who fought on both sides.
This program is generously funded by the Hopkinton Library Foundation.
